Traditional Leadership Act [chapter 29:11]
The Traditional Leadership Act provides for the role of traditional leaders in Zimbabwe’s rural local government. The Act also provides for the appointment and functions of chiefs, provincial assemblies of chiefs, headmen, village heads, village assemblies, ward assemblies and development committees.
Urban Councils Act [chapter 29:15]
The Urban Councils Act establishes municipalities, town councils, local government areas, and local boards in Zimbabwe. The Act provides for the powers and functions of all urban councils as well as the establishment and functions of a Local Government Board.
Rural District Councils Act [chapter 29:13]
The Rural District Councils Act provides for the establishment, nature and membership of Rural District Councils (RDCs). The Act also provides the powers and functions of Rural District councils and their committees.
Urban Development Corporation Act [chapter 29:16]
The Urban Development Corporation Act provides for the declaration of development areas; establishment of the Urban Development Corporation and for the functions thereof. The Act also provides for the constitution and functions of the Urban Development Board and regulation of the financial affairs of the Urban Development Corporation.
Provincial Councils and Administration Act [chapter 29:11]
The Provincial Councils and Administration Act provides for the establishment of provinces in Zimbabwe. The Act provides for the position, appointment and functions of provincial governors as well as provincial councils and provincial development committees.
District Development Fund Act [chapter 29:06]
The Act provides for the control and application of a fund to be used for the purpose of developing communal land and such other areas as may be declared by the Minister of Local Government.
Local Authorities Employees (Pension) Act [chapter 29:09]
The Local Authorities Employees (pension) Act provides for pension scheme(s) for employees of Local Authorities and the Local Authorities Pension Fund. The Act establishes and provides powers for a/the Management Committee to manage the Local Authorities Pension Fund.
Urban Area (Omnibus-Services) Act [chapter 29:14]
The Act provides for the establishment and operation of omnibus services within an urban area or between two or more urban areas.
Regional Town and Country Planning Act [chapter 29:12]
The Regional Town and Country Planning Act regulates regional planning and provides for the functions of Regional Planning Councils. The Act confers the land-use planning function on urban local authorities and regulates the development of master and local plans; subdivisions, consolidation, acquisition and disposal of land.
Housing Standards Control Act [chapter 29:08]
The Housing Standards Act establishes and confers powers and functions on housing courts. The Act provides for the repair, demolition or closure of buildings of an unsatisfactory standard; the abatement of overcrowding of dwellings; control of the harmful use or occupation of premises and the undue interference with the rights of the residents of a neighbourhood.
Municipal Traffic Laws Enforcement Act [chapter 29:10]
The Municipal Traffic Laws Enforcement Act facilitates the enforcement and administration of the law relating to road traffic and to vehicles on roads by providing for the punishment without prosecution of certain offences under by-laws or regulations made by municipal councils.
